In Loving Memory

Recently, Lisa Tabor, a close friend, former student and inspiration to my bookbinding professor lost a long battle with her health. I never met her, but heard her described and was incredibly touched; I felt both the need to show my professor my sympathy as well as pay tribute to Lisa Tabor's memory.

With few of my classmates, Sarah Tanner, Hanna Teachey, Amanda Andrews and Deb Sim, I decided to do what seemed obviously fitting and bound books with the dedication inside each and every one reading some variation of "In Loving Memory of Lisa Tabor".

We gave them to my professor to keep, to give away, whatever she liked. Our professor Carol has taught us both the beautiful art of book binding as well as how meaningful what is within the books can be. Carol lives a very meaningful life, as did Lisa Tabor, and I believe the way to do that is to connect with others, as Lisa Tabor seemed to inspire so many, and as Carol inspires us.

Our thoughts are with Lisa's loved ones.

This post is dedicated to Karen Birnbaum.
May she and Lisa Tabor rest in peace.
