when nature talks

fleurs and gems

the beautification of life is a billion dollar, multi-layered industry. but, sometimes, the most complexly beautiful things are so simple, and completely self created. they're accidents of chemistry and botanical chance, geology and natural phenomenon's. just plants and rocks, but ones so beautiful we covet them, we give only as tokens of commitment or reminders of affection. i have a faint memory of my dad commenting casually how a piece of fruit or a flower was essentially just made from sun and water and the soil, and as i child this awoke in me such awe. i'm glad that in a society where we buy thirty dollar bottles of shampoo the greatest gifts are from the earth, and what's from the earth is of the greatest worth.
